College Programs:
+ Co-Op / SCEP positions
+ Temp / STEP positions
+ Education Associates Program (EAP)
The Cooperative Space Grant Education Program, sponsored by NASA Ames and developed by the University of California Extension, Santa Cruz links students and faculty with projects at NASA Ames Research Center. Students and faculty members, from undergraduate to post doctoral level, at any accredited U.S. university, may participate as Education Associates (EAs). EAs must be either U.S. citizens or permanent resident aliens. The most relevant backgrounds are in the fields of engineering, information systems and communications, space science, physical sciences, life sciences, behavioral sciences, and mathematics. For more information, contact Porsche Parker, (650) 604-0044.
+ Ames Community College Education Development
Program (ACCEDP)
Beginning July 1, 2011, NASA/Ames Research Center and the University Space Research Association (USRA), Education Associates Program (EAP) will provide a unique program to implement the interim-Ames Community College Education Development Program (ACCEDP). In order to meet the critical workforce development needs of NASA, and the Community College Education and Development Programs, USRA/EAP will use their existing tools and processes to recruit and partner with local community colleges to provide paid work experiences for interns. The on-site mentors will provide day-to-day supervision for interns, and USRA/EAP will support recruitment activities, provide support, training/guidance and monitor processes through a web based program tool located at: http://eap.usra.edu. Internship positions are available in a wide range of settings, and correspond to almost every college major. United States citizenship is required for positions at NASA/Ames. For more information, contact:
Brenda Collins, (650) 604-3540 or
USRA Porche Parker (650) 604-0044.
+ NASA Scholars
The NASA Scholars Program works under the umbrella of the Minority University Research and Education Programs (MUREP) in the Higher Education Office. We work specifically with minority undergraduate students from all over the U.S. whose fields of study are in mathematics, science, engineering and technology disciplines. Students are paired with a NASA professional for a ten week summer internship beginning June 5, 2005. The purpose of the program is for the students to conduct research alongside NASA professionals either in projects that the mentors are conducting directly or in sub-projects that support the greater project that the mentors are conducting. In order to become eligible for the NASA Scholars Summer Internship, college undergraduates must have applied and been accepted to a NASA affiliated program at a designated minority institution, maintain a 3.0 GPA and submit a resume and current transcripts to the program coordinator at Ames Research Center.
For more information, contact Karisa Gonzales at (650) 604-0044.
To apply for an internship position, download the application (MS Word) by clicking here, and follow the instructions for submittal:
Please note: The NASA Scholars Program is only open to current NASA Scholars wishing to serve an internship at Ames Research Center.
+ Undergraduate Student Research Program
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration Undergraduate Student Research Program (NASA-USRP) is offering undergraduates across the United States mentored research experiences at the NASA Centers.
The NASA-USRP seeks applications from undergraduates enrolled full-time in an accredited U.S. college or university. Applicants must be rising juniors or seniors at the completion of the preceding Spring semester/quarter. Eligible fields of study are academic major or demonstrated coursework concentration in engineering, mathematics, computer science or physical/life sciences. For more information, contact Brenda Collins, (650) 604-3540.
